...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations ranging
from less than a tenth of an inch along and east of Interstate
95 to between a tenth and a quarter inch northwest of Interstate
95. The highest snow and ice amounts are most likely in the
northern and western suburbs of Baltimore.
* WHERE...Portions of northeastern Maryland.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. Snow will overspread the
area through 9 am this morning. Snowfall rates around 1 inch per
hour are expected through early this afternoon. Snow will change
to sleet and freezing rain between 1 pm and 3 pm this afternoon,
and rain will continue to freeze on some surfaces through
early this evening, especially northwest of Interstate 95.
Precipitation will change to all rain later this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult, especially
late this morning into early this afternoon. The hazardous
conditions will impact the latter portion of the morning
commute and they may also impact the evening commute as well.
The combined weight of snow, sleet and freezing rain could
result in downed branches and isolated power outages.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on
steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery,
increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
